My ship project

17 Jan

I Spent a full week on this ship.:) My husband was away for a business trip, and when I missed him I stitched!  The interesting thing about this project was the material I was stitching on. I found by chance a table place mat which was plastic yet had the appearance of cross stitch fabric, but each cross stitch was 4 times larger than 14 count cross stitch fabric. I took the ship pattern out of a pattern book, and created the border myself. I used 8 ply DMC floss.

and after a week of watching Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies 🙂 Here it is!

The original ship in 14 count would have been 4 inches tall and 5 inches wide. I was worried it might seem to simple blown up, but as you can see, the detail was still enough even on this larger version! I used a 16×20 inch picture frame to complete the project. Of course I presented it to my husband as a gift to welcome him home!
