Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day. This year we just had a quiet Christmas, stayed at home, and enjoyed so much-needed rest from the daily grind. 🙂 of course we did eat too much and watched perhaps to many Christmas movies too. 🙂
I wanted to get right back to blogging though! I usually have little to say during the months of November and December, as I am making Gifts for friends and family, and need to focus on that. ( Also I can;t really share what I am making as some of my viewers are recipients as well!) But Now I am able to share some of the things I have been secretly working on… 🙂
This first up was a present for my sister. She is perhaps not a biker chick, but she does enjoy riding her motorcycle whenever she can. when I saw a photo of the Harley D. logo, I thought that would be the perfect thing; seeing as how this is the only way she is getting a Harley item from me. lol
As you can see I chose to use black Aida fabric, count 14. I used DMC floss for all of the color in this peice, and used Black Satin floss (also can be bought by DMC) for the background filler in and around the words. It was a great materiel for this piece, bringing out the flames. Yes there will be flames, lol Scroll down!
I used a thin black leather place-mat, which I cut into a nice mat to frame the piece. I also bought a leather belt with grommets on it to also give that tough biker feel. then I added the date and my initials. This was very fun to make.

Have you had a chance to make more cross stiching patterns? This is truly a keepsake!

Karrie- I found a photo of a finished piece done by someone else- no actual pattern. I then altered that to fit my needs. If you do a general search on the internet you might turn up something similar. If you can somehow use my photos to recreate it, and want to put that work into making your own pattern by hand – go for it! I wish you lots of luck, and happy stitching!

Thanks!! I can actually make out a lot of the stitches on your picture and will tweak a few things here and there. Can’t wait to get started!

I love this! Great job! Can you please tell me the colors of thread you used for the flames? I tried to match the picture to threads and came up with DMC 722 for the orange flame and DMC 307 for the yellow flame. Thanks!

Hi Nina! Thanks for your intrest! I honestly cannot remember what colors I used, I think I just went to the store and tried to find a good gradient of yellow to orange and then orange to red-orange( for the boarder around the logo). You might try DMC 721 ( orange Spice) for the orange and see if you like that better. ALso DMC 3078 ( golden Yellow) for the Yellow. GOOD LUCK!
